A man was killed and at least 35 others were injured in an alleged gunfight between two groups at Derai upazila in Sunamganj district on Wednesday (October 25).

The incident happened at Pukidor village under Jagdal union of the upazila tjhis morning.

The deceased was Dulal Mia, 30, son of late Alim Uddin, a resident of that village.

According to police, there has been a dispute between two groups of two persons named Arju Khan and Feroze about land and dominance of that village for a long time. Following this, Arju and Feroze had an argument in the morning. At one point, the both side started conflict and firing. One person died after being shot and 35 others were injured.

Derai Police Station officer-in-charge Muktadir Hossain confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

'Now the scene is under the control of the police', the OC said.
