Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) President Sayem Sobhan Anvir has mourned the death of Syed Shamsul Alam Hasu, a former president of the trade body.

Shamsul Alam breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka early Friday, read a press release.

Shamsul is the son of Maulana Abdur Rashid Tarkabagish, who was a prominent politician of the Indian subcontinent. 

The former BAJUS president will be buried at his family graveyard in Sirajganj on Friday. 

The trade organisation will hold commemorative meetings across the country on November 1 to recall the contribution of Shamsul Alam.

Sayem Sobhan Anvir, also the managing director of the Bashundhara Group, expressed deep sorrow at the demise of Syed Shamsul Alam Hasu.

In a condolence message, he prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.

Shamsul contributed immensely to institutionalising BAJUS. He played an important role in various organisational activities of BAJUS, especially in the district branch.
