RMG workers block Mirpur roads again for wage hike

Workers from various garment factories in Mirpur area again blocked roads on Tuesday (October 31) morning, demanding a minimum basic salary of Tk 23,000.

The protesters claimed that they blocked the streets as the workers were attacked. 

The workers of Epyllion Garments blocked the road at Mirpur 12 in front of Purobi Cinema Hall in the capital after 10:30am. 

Md Sohag, a worker of Epyllion Garments said, “We did not come to the road first today. We went to work as usual but outsiders came, threatened and beat us. Then we back to the street. 

“At that time, when we were on the road, the outsiders suddenly attacked us. Around 50-60 workers were injured”, he added. 

Seeking anonymity a sub-inspector (SI) of Pallabi police station, said that there were several clashes and many were injured. 

Details information will be given later, police added.
