A UP chairman died after being hit by a train in Jashore's Jhikargachha on Tuesday (November 7) morning.

The incident happened at Syedpara village of the union around 7 am.

The deceased Shahjahan Ali, 60, was the chairman of Gadkhali union parishad, hailed from Beneali Bazar.

According to locals Shahajan woke up early in the morning and was walking over the Syedpara railway line towards the Bazar. At that time, a train coming from behind ran over him. He died on the spot.

Later, people saw the chairman lying beside the railway line and informed police.

Jhikargachha Police Station officer-in-charge Suman Bhakta confirmed the matter.
