RMG workers take to Mirpur-13 streets for wage hike

Readymade garment (RMG) workers have further staged demonstrations by blocking the main road of Mirpur-13 in the capital on Sunday (November 12) morning demanding a minimum wage of Tk 23,000. 

Due to the protest traffic in Mirpur 10, 13 and 14, remained halted for an hour, but at 10:30 traffic movement became normal as police evacuated the protesters.

Even though the RMG workers blocked the road and protested, there was no incident of violence reported.

The agitating workers said that demanding, they took to the street. They did not accept the decision of Tk 12,500.

A garment worker told Banglanews, “The money we get is not enough to support our family. I went down the street in the urge of life.”

The garment workers blocked the road in Mirpur-13 area in the morning but later moved to Mirpur-10 area, added a police official.
