BGB nabs three men with 12 gold bars in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested three people along with 12 gold bars weighing 1.399 kg from Benapole border area on Sunday (November 12).

The arrestees are – Ajmeer, 21, son of Anar Uddin of Putkhali village under Benapole Port Thana, Jalal Uddin, 38, son of Ali Kadam of the same area, and Nuruzzaman, 40, son of Ruhul Amin.

They were arrested from the Benapole Baroputa border area early in the morning.

Khulna-21 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col Mohammad Khurshid Anwar confirmed the matter through a press release.

He said Khulna-21 BGB conducted a joint operation on Benapole border. At that time, gold smugglers were arrested with gold bars.

The estimated market value of the recovered gold is Tk 1.26 crore, he said. 

Besides, a case against the detained accused will be filed and he will be handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, the BGB official added.
