The Holy Quran recitation competition ‘Quraner Noor’ is going to be held with international participants for the first time in Bangladesh.
Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee will organise the mega Islamic reality show styled ‘Quraner Noor International Hifzul Quran Competition-2024’ with the support of Bashundhara Group.
As per the pledge of Bashundhara Group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, the Quraner Noor competition will be organised internationally this time.
In the second edition, Quraner Noor International Hifzul Quran competition is scheduled to be held in three phases of selection, national and international levels.
Any Hafiz, aged below 16, will be eligible to participate in the competition that will be kicked off soon, organisers said in a press briefing at Baitul Mukarram national mosque in the capital on Wednesday.
Musalli Committee president Eyakub Ali briefed the media while general secretary Mizanur Rahman Manik made address of welcome.
Musalli Committee senior vice president Gulzar Ahmed, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque senior imams Mizanur Rahman, Muhibullah Baki Al Nadvi, Islamic scholar Shaykh Qari Ahmad Bin Yusuf Al Azhari, Kaler Kantho deputy editor Haider Ali and News24 television deputy chief news editor Ashikur Rahman Srabon were present on the occasion.
The country has been divided into 11 regions for holding the competition in a smooth way, they said. Besides, participants from different Mulsim-majority countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Türkiye will participate.
The leading industrial conglomerate in the country patronised the international programme for recognizing the unsung talents of the holy text from Allah Subhanau Wa Ta’ala.
The organisers also said that they would soon request the interested participants to register their names online.
The recorded programme will be aired on News24 from the first day of Ramadan, they added.
The competition will be telecasted at News24 television while featured videos on the participants will stream through YouTube.
Musalli Committee president Eyakub Ali said the competition will be organised across eleven regions of the country to bring the talents to the national level.
“A distinguished panel including noted Islamic scholars will short out the top winners from selection round. The national champion of the competition will be awarded Tk10 lakh while international champion will get Tk15 lakh,” he said.
Musalli Committee senior vice president Gulzar Ahmed expressed gratitude to Bashundhara Group Managing Director for extending supports for devotees at national mosque.
“Bashundhara Group always extends supports for Islamic activities. Quraner Noor is a part of this. Around 10 thousand contestants took part in the first edition of the competition,” he said.
