Miscreants set fire to two covered vans on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Dakkhin Salna area of Gazipur City Corporation in the district today (November 23).

According to police and fire service, 10 to 12 miscreants in a private car and on a motorbike intercepted the two covered vans in Dakkhin Salna area and set those on fire around 6am this morning by pouring petrol on them.

Abdus Samad, station officer of Gazipur Fire Service confirmed the matter. 

On information, police and two firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control in an hour, Abdus Samad said.

No one was injured in the incident, he added.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Gazipur Sadar Police Station, Rafiqul Islam said an investigation is underway to determine who set fire to the two covered vans.

Necessary measures will be taken after investigating the incident, the OC added.
