A female member of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) was killed and her husband injured after a bus hit their motorbike at Savar.

The accident took place around 3:00 pm on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Hemayetpur area.

Deceased Afsana Akter, 22, daughter of Abdul Karim of Barishal district, was a constable of APBn battalion no 11 in Mirpur-14 area.

Savar Highway Police Station sub-inspector Babul Akhtar confirming the matter said Afsana was going to her sister's home in Dhamrai area riding on a motorcycle along with her husband.

He said at one stage, a bus of Selfie Paribahan hit them from behind in Hemayetpur area, leaving Afsana dead on the spot and her husband critically injured.

Police seized the bus, however, the driver managed to flee the scene, he said, adding legal steps in this regard are under process.
