Three parked buses set on fire in Cumilla

Unidentified arsonists set three buses on fire in Cumilla at Kotbari Bishwa Road area of the Dhaka-Chattogram highway early today (November 30).

The parked buses of Trisha Paribahan were set on fire in front of Irish Hill hotel around 3:00am on Thursday.

Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Cumilla Sadar South Police Station confirmed the matter.

“We rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. We are trying to identify who is behind this,” he added.

The buses were torched amid a 24-hour countrywide blockade called by BNP and its allies demanding the cancellation of the schedule for the 12th general election and the resignation of the Awami League government by handing over power to a poll-time, party-neutral caretaker government.

The nationwide dawn to dusk hartal for Thursday, called by the BNP and its allies, for the resignation of the government and holding the next general election under a non-party caretaker government is underway across the country.
