A Chattogram court summoned Chattogram-16 constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Mostafizur Rahman for allegedly assaulting some journalists.

In the afternoon, the Chairman of the Election Inquiry Committee formed to prevent and control 'pre-election irregularities' of Chattogram-16 Constituency Joint District Judge Abu Salem Mohammad Noman summoned MP Mostafiz for an explanation of the incident. 

According to complaint, MP Mostafizur Rahman assaulted some journalists when he came to submit nomination papers at the Chattogram District Administration Office today.

Chattogram District Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

He said, “Based on the complaint, the Chairman of the Election Inquiry Committee formed to prevent and control 'pre-election irregularities' has summoned.” 

Before that, the Chairman of the Election Investigation Committee took statements from three journalists, he added.
