The commercial train services on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route started with 1,020 passengers on Friday (December 1) afternoon.
A train named ‘Cox’s Bazar Express’ left Cox's Bazar for Dhaka at 12:30pm.
Cox's Bazar Iconic Railway Station Assistant Station Master Atiqur Rahman confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
He said the train will reach the capital via Chattogram at 9:10pm.
According to Bangladesh Railway officials, another train will leave Dhaka at 10:30pm today and reach Cox’s Bazar at 7:20am the next day.
This rail route will see non-stop train services, with only two stoppages at Dhaka Airport and Chattogram station.
On 11 November, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 102-kilometre single-dual-gauge rail link on the Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar section to bring the country’s major tourist destination under the rail network.
