Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal no one (r) one as a well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal has developed into a depression.
It was centred at noon today about 1555 km Southwest of Chattogram port, 1485 km Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 1500 km South of Mongla port and 1475 km South of Payra port, said a Met office bulletin.
It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and intensify further.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 km of the Depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the Depression centre.
All fishing boat and trawller over north bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
