Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (August 2) predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over eight divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country," according to weather forecast for the next 24 hours begins from 9am today.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the forecast added.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to the North Bay.
Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over the North Bay.
Country's maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded 35.8 degree Celsius at Dinajpur district and today's minimum temperature 24.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Maijdee Court in Noakhali district.
Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 276 millimeters(mm) at Maijdee Court.
