Rain expected across Bangladesh

Bangladesh Meteorological Department today (August 7) predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places in six divisions, at a few places in other two divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over the country.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over the country", said a met office forecast for the next 24 hours from 9am today.

The axis of monsoon troughs runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.

Country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 35.0 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga and minimum temperature today was 25.0 degrees Celsius jointly at Cox's Bazar and Bandarban.

Day temperature may fall slightly, and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged throughout the country.

The sun sets at 06:38 PM today and rises at 05:37 AM tomorrow in the capital.
