A Barguna District and Sessions Judge Saifur Rahman today sent 12 pro-Awami League lawyers of Barguna Bar Association to jail for their alleged role in attacking the local BNP office in March 2023.

The accused, including former Bar Association president Mahbubul Bari, appeared in court seeking bail, which was rejected. The case was filed under the Special Powers Act and Explosive Substance Act by Noimul Islam, son of former district BNP leader S M Nazrul Islam.

The complainant alleged the lawyers damaged office property, set fire, and detonated crude bombs during a procession. Another local BNP leader, Sohag Mridha, was also named in the case.
