Bangladesh Bank (BB) deputy governor Nurun Nahar will act as the governor of the central bank.

She would carry out the duty in the absence of the governor, according to an official order signed by Financial Institutions Division Deputy Secretary Afsana Bilkis.

BB Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder has resigned from his post on personal ground.

He submitted his resignation letter to the Finance Ministry around 3:00pm on Friday.

Rouf took charge as the 12th governor of the BB on July 12, 2022 for a four-year term.

He succeeded former governor Fazle Kabir, whose tenure as the central bank chief ended on July 3 in the same year.
