Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moynul Islam today (August 11) said a total of 42 police officers died during the countrywide student movement.

He was talking to journalists at Rajarbag central police hospital in the capital.

IGP Moinul said, “We have taken necessary steps to bring back the traffic members to VIP road. We have already started with more force from Intercontinental to Jahangir Gate.”

He said that 42 policemen were killed in the violence during the protest, including three inspectors and two RAB members. Injured are numerous, 507 people have received treatment at Rajarbagh Police Hospital alone. 

The condition of 27 injured people is serious. Two of them are in the ICU. The IGP added that full assistance is being provided to those who are injured.
