Protesters take position at Dhanmondi 32

Thousands of protesters started to gather at the capital’s Dhanmondi 32 as part of the ‘Resistance Week’ programme.

Since early Thursday morning (August 15), a large number of students and civilians have gathered in the areas surrounding Dhanmondi 32, including Rapa Plaza.

On August 5, a mass uprising led to the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. As a result, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina fled to India and most of the leaders and activists of the party have gone into hiding from the central to the grassroots level.

Meanwhile, from India, Sheikh Hasina called on the leaders and activists to gather at Dhanmondi 32 on August 15 to observe the day of mourning. Sajeeb Wazed Joy announced this programme on Facebook on behalf of his mother.
