Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested former army officer Major General Ziaul Ahsan on Thursday night, in a murder case filed at capital’s Newmarket police station.

According to DMP, Ziaul, also former director general of NTMC, was arrested from Dhaka's Khilkhet area on the basis of secret information.

DMP’s media and public relations department additional deputy-commissioner, Md. Obaidur Rahman confirmed the matter.

In addition, Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Intelligence Department Ashrafuzzaman also confirmed the matter.

 On August 6, a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Major General Ziaul Ahsan was relieved from his responsibilities.
