Couple, 2 sons killed as truck hits car in Siraganj

A couple and their two sons were killed after a truck hit their car in Sirajganj’s Ullapara upazila on Monday (Aug 19).

The accident occurred on the Hatikumrul Roundabout on the highway connecting to the west end of the Bangabandhu Bridge early today.

The deceased are Jasim Uddin (65), his wife Maina Khatun (60) and their two sons Jamal Uddin (45) and Kamal Uddin (40) of Narsinghpur village of Bagmara police station in Rajshahi district.

The injured private car driver was rescued and admitted to the hospital.

Inspector Md Tazuddin from Salenga Police Station confirmed the matter.

Relatives have been informed, he said, adding further legal action will be taken in this regard after they arrive, he also said.

Nurul Islam Babu, Sub officer of Ullapara Fire Service and Civil Defense said, "Around 3 am, we reached the spot after receiving the news of the accident and recovered the bodies of four people." 

They were coming from Dhaka in a private car. At that time, a Dhaka-bound truck hit the private car, leaving the four members of the family dead on the spot, he said. 

On receiving the information, the fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered the bodies of four persons. The injured private car driver was sent to hospital.
