Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to visit Bangladesh on October 4, following a scheduled trip to Pakistan.

A representative from the Bangladesh Embassy in Kuala Lumpur confirmed that discussions regarding the visit are ongoing. The tentative date for Anwar Ibrahim’s arrival is set for October 4, with final confirmation anticipated by the end of today (Monday).

Sources indicate that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will arrive in Dhaka from Pakistan on October 4. During his visit, he is expected to meet with Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government, and President Mohammad Shahabuddin. Discussions on labor market issues are likely to yield positive outcomes for Bangladesh during this diplomatic engagement.

Diplomatic sources also revealed that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been actively pursuing Anwar Ibrahim's visit since last year (2023). A Foreign Secretary-level meeting between the two nations took place on May 10, 2023, where Anwar Ibrahim's potential visit was highlighted alongside broader bilateral issues.

According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina first visited Malaysia in 2000 for an official state visit and returned in December 2014 for her second visit after more than a decade.

Anwar Ibrahim’s visit is expected to further strengthen ties between the two countries, with labor market developments as a key focus.
