LAXMIPUR: Miscreants chopped a local leader of ruling Awami League to death in Noldogi village of Kushakhali Union under Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ullah, 38, member of Kushakhali UP and Union unit Awami League Joint general secretary.

Locals said that the victim came out of home after receiving a phone call on Wednesday night and went missing.

Later, seeing the body in a canal of the village, locals informed police at around 10:00am Thursday.

Sadar Thana Sub-Inspector Zillur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
