DHAKA: Law Minister of the new government Anisul Huq has taken the initiatives to come out from the clot of cases known as the ‘Cancer’ of judiciary department.
He, as part of this initiative, has started collecting information from the 64 districts of the country.
All information regarding the pending cases will be collected from the districts. The varied problems with the cases now pending in the districts will be identified and the clot will be removed.
Earlier the former Law Minister Barrister Shafiq Ahmed of the immediate past Awami League-led government used to tell about case clot removing gossips but practically he was far from the reality.
In Judiciary department there are 28 lakhs cases now pending for trial.
Till September 30 of 2013 in all the courts of the country about 28 lakhs of cases are at trial stage.
Of these, the number of under trial cases in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court is about 14,494 while in the High Court Division the number is 3,16, 218.
In all district and session judges court of the country the number stands at 15,52,989 and the number of same nature cases pending trial in all types of Magistrate courts is 27,93,192.
When the Law Minister was asked that how you will untie the huge case clot, he replied that at the moment, they are taking the accounts of pending cases across the country. This report is being collected district wise. Then those will be scrutinized where and how many cases are pending.
He told that the reason of case pending will be found out and then the process of disposal will be initiated.
On November 1 in 2007, the judiciary was separated from the executive. After the separation of the judiciary, there were more than 19 lakh cases across the country’s different courts till December 31 in 2007. On September 30 in 2013 that number has reached 27,93,192.
