The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall across most parts of the country for the next 24 hours, starting from 9 am today (Oct 5).
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are likely at most places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, and Sylhet divisions, and at many places in Rangpur, Khulna, and Chattogram divisions, with moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall at some locations," the forecast added.
A low-pressure system persists over the North Bay of Bengal and the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal. The monsoon trough extends from Bihar and West Bengal to Assam, crossing central Bangladesh.
The monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over the North Bay.
Day and night temperatures are expected to drop slightly across the country.
On Friday, the highest temperature was 33.3 °C in Koyra, while the lowest temperature today was 23.5°C in Sayedpur. The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, recorded up to 6 a.m. today, was 250 mm in Chandpur.
In Dhaka, the sun will set at 5:42 p.m. today and rise at 5:52 a.m. tomorrow.
