A total of 392 road accidents occurred across the country in September, resulting in the deaths of 426 people and injuries to 813 others.
Among these, 179 people died in 164 motorcycle accidents, which accounted for 42% of the total fatalities. The motorcycle accident rate stood at 41.83%.
This data was released in a press statement by the Road Safety Foundation, signed by its Executive Director Saidur Rahman on Monday.
The report from the Road Safety Foundation detailed that Dhaka Division witnessed the highest number of accidents, with 128 fatalities in 124 accidents. Barisal Division, in contrast, reported the fewest, with 16 deaths in 15 accidents.
In Chattogram district, 28 people were killed in 31 accidents, marking it as the most affected single district. However, Shariatpur, Patuakhali, Sunamganj, and Jamalpur reported no fatalities.
In the capital Dhaka, 19 people were killed and 13 others injured in 26 road accidents.
