DHAKA: A child was burnt alive and some of shanties were gutted as a devastating fire broke out in a rickshaw garage of Mohanagar residential project area in Rampura of the city on Saturday morning.

The fire originated at around 8:15am and soon engulfed adjacent slum.

Fire service control room sources said that on information, eleven fire fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

At one stage, the fire fighters recovered a charred body of child.

Ramna thana officer-in-charge Moshiur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The loss of extent and reason of the fire origination could not be known immediately.

Sources said Dhaka Metropolitan Police will provide lunch among victims.
