Proper registration of SIM to stop illegal VoIP

DHAKA: Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Committee (BTRC) Chairman Sunil Kanti Bose on Saturday categorically said proper registration of Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) can drastically reduce to using illegal Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

The BTRC chief made the observation while addressing a seminar on ‘stopping illegal phone calls, current situation and solution’ at a city hotel in city.

Bose also said a machine would be setup to verify the information of the National Identification (NID) in ensuring proper registration.

The seminar was organized by Telecom Reporters Network Bangladesh (TRNB).

TRNB President Abdullah Mamun conducted the seminar while its general secretary Sajal Zahid presented the keynote.

FBCCI former President Mir Nasir Hossain, also the proprietor of Mir Telecom, telecommunication expert Abu Sayeed Khan, Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh’s Nurul Kabir, Teletalk Managing Director Mujibur Rahman, mobile operator Robi vice-president Mahmudur Rahman and GrameenPhone’s head of corporate affairs Mahmud Hossain were among others present at the seminar.
