DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Sunday sent Tazreen Fashion owner Delwar Hossain and his wife Mahmuda Akhter Mita to jail denouncing bail plea.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Tazul Islam of Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Dhaka passed the order after hearing of a fire accident case that killed some 111 ready-made garment workers on November 24, 2012.

Earlier in the morning, Delwar Hossain and his wife Mahmuda Akhter Mita surrendered to the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and plead for a bail release.

On Nov 24, 2012, a fire gutted Tazreen Fashion’s factory at Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital.

Some 111 factory workers died and more than 200 others sustained severe burn injuries in this connection.

Sub-Inspector of Ashulia Police Station Khairul Islam filed the case accusing unidentified people a day after the fire.
