Army training period extends to 1-yr

DHAKA: The training period of commission officers of Bangladesh Army at Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) will be extended to three years instead of two years.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came up with the disclosure in Generals’ Conference at Officers’ Mess in Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday.

The premier said the time period of training for BMA long course is being extended with a view to making Bangladesh Army more modern and competent.

She also said that the program will be operated in a shorter while. Moreover, Bangabandhu Complex is built at BMA to enhance infrastructural development of Bangladesh Army, she added.

The government is always concerned for further development in this field, she added.

Sheikh Hasina recognized the achievements and sacrifices of Army personnel for the sake of the country and showed her gratitude to them.

She also mentioned about the opportunities and upcoming development programs for the army personnel.

Defense Advisor to the premier Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Chief of Army General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan and officials of Bangladesh Army were among others present on the occasion.
