BARISAL: A top terror was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion personnel in Chalker pool area of the district Monday morning.

The deceased was identified Faruk Ahmed alias Panama, now known as leader of Juba League, youth wing of Awami League,
Barisal RAB-8 officer captain Bashar told banglanews the force set up check post in Chalker Pool area early hours of the day. On suspicion, RAB intercepted Panama Faruk and his four associates while they were crossing the check post. But they locked into an altercation with the law enforcers.

At one stage of altercation, they opened fire aiming RAB personnel and RAB also retaliated.

During the gunfight, RAB member Faruki sustained injuries and later, Panama Faruk was found dead on the spot.
RAB, however, recovered four firearms, four big-sized lethal weapons and huge bullets and ammunitions.
Kolwali Model thana officer-in-charge Shakawat Hossain said Panama Faruk was accused 10 cases for criminal activities including murder, extortion.
