High Court sets deadline

DHAKA: The High Court ordered on Monday to withdraw human haulers—locally known as Nosimon, Korimon and Bhatbhati -- from highways within a week.

HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Mohammad Habibul Gani passed the order in a public interest litigation.

The HC also issued a rule upon the government to explain within two weeks why the government should not be directed to follow Motor Vehicle Ordinance applicable to vehicles plying on highways and also to stop the movement of human haulers.

Advocate Manjil Morshed appeared for the petitioner.

Home secretary, finance secretary, IGP, DIG and Police Superintendents of ten districts were made respondents.
