BARGUNA: Two people were killed and another one injured in a road accident on Amtali-Kalapara road at Amtali upazila of the district on Wednesday noon.

The deceased were identified as Jalal Hawlader and Siddique Fakir, hailed from Badurgachha village of Taltali upazila of the district.

Sources said police were checking licenses and other papers of bikers on Amtali-Kalapara road at Chhurikata intersection around 12:00pm.

During the time, police signaled an Amtali-bound motorcycle to stop but the motorcyclist tried to flee by turning the motorcycle while an Amtali-bound passenger carrying bus knocked the motorcycle, leaving a pillion dead on the spot and two others injured critically, sources also said.

Of the injured, Jalal, died on the way to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, sources added.

Police seized the motorcycle and the bus but the motorcyclist Hasan and bus driver managed to flee the scene, sources added.

Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Thana Shamdul Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.
