DHAKA: Another member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), who sustained injuries in mortar shell explosion at Ghatail Cantonment of Tangail, succumbed to his injuries in Combined Military Hospital (CMH) of the capital on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as M Ali Jinnah, member of BGB.

Earlier on Wednesday, the accident happened as the fourth shell blew up inside the barrel in the training period in the Army Field Firing Range area of the district around 12:30pm.

BGB members of Dinajpur range were on their annual live firing exercise with a Chinese 82mm mortar shell which misplayed with them.

With the death of Jinnah, a total of six Bangladesh Army and Border Guard Bangladesh personnel were killed and 12 others injured in the explosion.

The Duty Officer of Cantonment Police Station Waheduzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
