The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested actress Shomi Kaiser early Wednesday (Nov 6) in Uttara, Dhaka. 

Deputy Commissioner Rawnak Jahan of the Uttara Division said that she was arrested around 12:30 am during a police raid based on a tip-off at a residence on Road-6, Sector-4.

Shomi Kaiser, along with 16 others, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was named in a case filed on October 9 for allegedly attempting to kill BNP activist Syed Hasan Mahmud in June 2022. 

Mahmud filed the case with the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s court. 

Shomi Kaiser is the daughter of the late martyred intellectual and writer Shahidullah Kaiser and former lawmaker Panna Kaiser.
