BAGERHAT: A Bagerhat court on Sunday awarded death penalty to three members of Purba Bangla Communist Party for their involvement in killing village police Harun-ur-Rashid.
The convicts are Shamim Sheikh, Mannan Anwar Sheikh, Rony Saradar and Hobi Mollah of Fhakirhat upazila. All of them are absconding.
District and Sessions of Bagerhat Judge SM Solaiman passed the order in absence of the accused.
On January 27 in 2004, Harun-ur-Rashid, son of late Chahir Uddin, was murdered by the Purba Bangla Communist Party members.
Following the day, a case was filed in this connection with Fhakirhat Police Station.
