Banglalink Grandmaster idea-contest held

DHAKA: The Grand Final of Banglalink Grandmaster Idea Contest, Season-3, was held at the Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Sunday afternoon.

In the final episode, Maverick from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) become the champion team, Dementors from IBA department of Jahangirnagar University the First runner up, and Hufflepufs from IBA department of Dhaka University the Second runner up.

Out of a total registered over 1200 teams top 5 teams had been selected for the finale for which they’ve been given training by Banglalink experts on developing mobile applications.

The jury panel includes Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad- Professor, Computer Science and Engineering Department, BUET, Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Executive Director, External Affairs, North South University, Professor Dr. Mohammad Musa, Dean, School of Business & Economics, United International University, Professor Mamun Rashid, Vice Chairman, Financial Excellence Ltd and Dr. Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, Dean, School of Business, Independent University Bangladesh.

Professor Dr. Mohammad Musa, Dean, School of Business & Economics, United International University, a member of the jury board said, “Competitions such as Grandmaster create a platform for the youth to utilize their strengths and come out as winners; this isn’t a classroom competition it is real life and they understand that”.

Ziad Shatara, Managing Director and CEO of Banglalink said, “We believe Grandmaster can motivate students to think of some unique ideas and hopefully this kind of thinking will create a mobile application that will help society and change millions of lives. Grandmaster started in 2011 and yielded wonderful results, and that is why we are back for the third year, bigger than before. Banglalink is committed to starting of something new, and we believe the youth is our key to bringing the difference in the future.”

The contestants, in Season-2, demonstrated their ideas on ‘mobile internet based mobile application’ which would benefit the national community.

This competition is for under graduate/postgraduate students, where they can showcase their innovative skills that can truly make a difference.
