DHAKA: The High Court (HC) summoned the Investigating Officer (IO) of the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Runi.

AN HC bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order on Tuesday as the investigation work did not advance.

The HC bench also ordered the IO to submit report to the High Court by March 5 with all updates of the case.

Lawyer SM Masud Hossain Dolan moved for the defendants in the Court.

He alleged that no chargesheet was submitted in the case though two years have passed after the murder and the accused had been kept behind bars despite no progress in the probe.

In 2012, News Editor of Maasranga Television Sagar Sarwar and Senior Reporter of ATN Bangla Meherun Runi were stabbed to death in the bedroom of their apartment in the city.
