DHAKA: A high-level meeting sits Wednesday at the Home Ministry in order to frame a new policy for mobile-phone users, a highly placed source in the ministry said, as phony phoning is on the rise.

“Important issues will be discussed and decisions made from the meeting to stop cell-phone use by the local and trans-border terrorist networks,” said the source, wishing anonymity.

The source indicated that fresh registration for all mobile-phone users is also on the cards.

Mobile users were asked to register their SIM card in August 2007.

“This time there will be more information to be sought,” the source added.
