SATKHIRA : A father and his son were killed in a tiger attack in the Sundarbans Tuesday night, said a Forest Department source.

The dead were identified as Nawshad Gazi, 65, and his son Ismail Hossain, 13, of Kadamtola village in Shyamnagar upazila

An official of Kadamtala Station in the Forest Department said the two came under attack while fishing in Bameshwar canal at night.

Fellow fishermen said a tiger swooped on the boat of Nawshad and attacked his son. As the father came for his son’s rescue, the man-eater also attacked him. Later, the tiger dragged the two bodies into the dense forest

Forest rangers recovered the body of Ismail on Tuesday night and Nawshad this (Wednesday) morning.
