The interim government has decided to confer state honours on two teachers of Milestone School and College who were killed in the FT-7 BGI fighter jet crash in Uttara, Dhaka.
The two victims are Mahreen Chowdhury and Masuka Begum.
The decision was made during a regular meeting of the Advisory Council at the Chief Adviser’s Office on Thursday (July 24), chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
The Press Wing of the Chief Adviser’s Office confirmed the information in a press release.
According to the statement, the meeting began with a condolence resolution in memory of those killed in the Milestone school air crash. One minute of silence was observed to honour the victims, followed by a prayer for their souls.
The government has also decided to provide full support to the families of the deceased and for the medical treatment of the injured. The Ministry of Education will consult with the school authorities to determine the next course of action.
The council resolved to grant state honours to the two deceased teachers, with the specific form of the honour to be finalised soon.
Additionally, the Advisory Council has called for special prayers to be held in all religious institutions tomorrow, seeking peace for the departed souls and recovery for the injured. The Ministry of Religious Affairs will coordinate the effort.
