The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has confirmed the identities of five individuals who were burned beyond recognition in the recent aircraft crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara area.
The identifications were made by CID's forensic DNA laboratory using samples collected from the victims' remains.
The information was shared in a message sent to the media on Thursday (July 24).
Earlier, on Wednesday (July 23), Special Superintendent of CID’s forensic division, Shampa Yasmin, stated that 11 DNA samples had been collected from six charred bodies and scattered human remains. Matching samples were also obtained from 11 relatives who claimed the bodies.
Meanwhile, Milestone School and College authorities have released updated details regarding those killed, injured, and missing in the incident.
According to a statement issued on Thursday, a total of 51 individuals sustained serious injuries in the crash. Among the injured are 40 students, seven teachers, one guardian, one female support staff (aya), and one office assistant.
The school further reported that five individuals remain missing—three students and two guardians.
