Several people were killed in a reported gunfight between members of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) and the Santu Larma-led faction of the Parbatya Chattogram Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS) in Dighinala upazila of Khagrachari. 

While local sources claim at least four were killed, police have not confirmed the exact number of casualties.

The incident occurred around 8:00 pm on Friday (July 25) in the remote Naraichari area, allegedly over a turf war between the two rival groups.

Police said the exchange of fire took place near Jorasindhu Karbari Para, about three kilometres south of the Naraichari Border Outpost (BOP). 

According to police sources, members of the UPDF and JSS traded between 300 to 400 rounds of gunfire during the confrontation.

The clash is believed to have stemmed from ongoing disputes over territorial control.

Dighinala police station officer-in-charge Md Zakaria said the location is extremely remote. “We have received reports of gunfire and heard that several individuals may have been killed, but we cannot confirm any deaths at this time,” he added.

However, Angya Marma, a UPDF organiser, has denied that any such incident took place.
