A 35-year-old CNG garage worker was hacked to death allegedly over previous enmity in the capital’s Gendaria early today.
The victim, Ariful Islam Babu, was attacked around 5:30am near the Doyaganj rail line, said police.
Family members alleged that a group of 4-5 local youths, including Robin, Shahin, Masud, and Kader, attacked Babu with sharp weapons and fled the scene with his mobile phone.
He was rushed to a local clinic and later to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doc tors declared him dead around 8:00am.
Babu, originally from Baluarchar village in Shariatpur’s Jajira upazila, was living in a rented house in Mirhajirbagh’s Mollahpara area.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, said the body bore injuries to the head and both hands. It has been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
