Members of police have arrested four more people in connection with a case filed over a secret meeting allegedly held by Awami League activists in the capital’s Bhatara area, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 26.
The development has been shared by Deputy Commissioner of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division Muhammad Talebur Rahman at a press conference held at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road on Sunday (August 3).
Earlier, on July 8 police launched operations after receiving information about a gathering at a convention hall in the capital’s Bhatara area.
Following the incident, a case was filed with Bhatara Police Station on July 13, under which 22 people were arrested.
However, “Efforts are on to arrest the remaining people,” said the DMP official.
“We are seriously investigating whether the gathering involved any anti-state conspiracy or if the training programme was organised with such an intention,” he said.
In response to another question, Talebur Rahman said that individuals had been brought from different parts of the country for the alleged training.
