Mohiuddin Roni, chief coordinator of the movement demanding reforms in the health sector including Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, has alleged that deputy commissioners and police commissioners loyal to Sheikh Hasina have been sent to Barishal.

He made the allegation on Wednesday (August 27) at a press conference held at Ashwini Kumar Hall premises in Barishal city.

Referring to attacks on protesters, the Dhaka University student said police did not file any FIR despite their complaints. “We wanted the people’s police to investigate fairly and take the people’s case. But we realised that the commissioners, DCs and administration officials you see here are extremely incompetent,” he said.

Roni added, “It seems to us that Hasina’s DCs and Hasina’s commissioners have been withdrawn from other places and sent to Barishal. If they can prove they are not Hasina’s police or Hasina’s DCs, then they must take action, bring the devils under the law and place them in the dock of justice. Then we will accept them as the people’s police, the people’s DCs. Otherwise, they must leave Barishal with the disgrace and burden of being labelled Hasina’s police, Hasina’s DCs, and accomplices of dictatorship.”
