Tawhidul Islam Mintu has been promoted to editor of online news portal Banglanews24.com, the management of East West Media Group PLC announced on Saturday (August 9). 

He joined Banglanews earlier this year as Executive Editor and was later made Acting Editor.

A native of Jashore, Tawhidul Islam Mintu began his journalism career in his hometown in 1997 at the Daily Loksamaj, where he also served as the Country Editor. In August 2001, he moved to Dhaka and joined Ajker Kagoj, later working at Desh Bangla.

In June 2009, he joined the daily Kaler Kantho, where he worked until October 2013, before founding the online news outlet The Report24.com.

He became Executive Editor of Banglanews on January 23 this year and was appointed Acting Editor soon after. 

In April, Tawhidul Islam Mintu was elected president of the Khulna Divisional Journalists Forum (KDJF) Dhaka. He has also held leadership roles in various journalist organisations and is a permanent member of the National Press Club.
