Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed has said that loan defaulters will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming national election.
He made the remarks on Wednesday (August 13) at a press conference held in the Finance Ministry meeting room at the Secretariat, organised by the National Pension Authority on the occasion of the EP-Pension launch.
The adviser said the Election Commission should identify loan defaulters, but the problem lies with court stay orders.
Responding to a question on whether the government is taking any steps to curb black money in the election, he said there are two aspects regarding black money: the source and the process.
He underscored that the source is now largely controlled compared to the past.
Previously, the owner of a bank, an industrial enterprise, a newspaper, and a flat could all be the same person, but that is no longer the case, and some check and balance has been introduced, he added.
