Sylhet police have arrested Companiganj upazila’s Paschim Islampur Union Parishad Chairman Alamgir Alam over allegations of looting white stones. 

He was detained early Thursday (August 14) in a joint operation by Companiganj Police Station and the district Detective Branch (DB) from his home.

Alamgir Alam is the chairman of 2 No Purb Islampur Union Parishad in the upazila. 

Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Uzair Al Mahmud Adnan confirmed the matter.
