The government has formed an investigation committee to probe the purchase of surveillance equipment during the Sheikh Hasina government’s tenure.
The committee will be headed by the chief adviser’s special assistant on post, telecommunications and ICT affairs, Faez Ahmed Taiyeb.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam disclosed the information on Thursday (August 14) at a briefing on the meeting of the advisory council held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
He said the advisory council has formed a committee to investigate how much was spent, and from where these were purchased. Although the report says much of the equipment was bought from Israel, the committee will look into the entire matter.
